Steve Turner put together an absolutely awesome EP with this one. Released only in Spain on Houston Party Records, A Beautiful Winter is laid back, but not lagging, and is full of great riffs and lyrics. The title track is excellent, better than the duet on Steve Turner and His Bad Ideas. Both "Chalkie's" tracks recorded in London are beautiful sonic delights.5/5(1).

This is the second solo album from Mudhoney guitarist Steve Turner. His debut received nearly unanimous critical acclaim and this is an even more confident and fully realized affair. Features two duets with indie chanteuse Holly Golightly (who did a duet with Jack White on the last White Stripes album.) And His Bad Ideas was recorded in Seattle and London, using various different studios (Toe Rag, 5/5(2).

Proving that his solo debut, Searching for Melody, was no fluke, Steve Turner promptly issued a follow-up EP, A Beautiful Winter, and the full-length And His Bad Ideas a year later. But unlike his debut, which was surprisingly un- Mudhoney -like (it largely included singer/songwriter and roots rock compositions), Turner 's sophomore full-length sees the singer/guitarist crank things up a notch.7/
